About Me

Garcia

As the daughter of a Navy veteran, I have had the fortune of living all over the country. I had wonderful experience with new cultures and people and it really helped shape the person and teacher I am. I have two amazing daughter who keep me on my toes, and an awesome boyfriend and stepdaughter who complete our family perfectly.

As a teacher I believe it is my duty to not only to teach you the skills needed to be successful in your future, but also to inspire you to chase your dreams, no matter how distant they may seem.

After graduating high school, my plans were to go to college and study physics (specifically astronomy) with hopes to one day work for NASA. As many have experienced, life threw me a curve ball, and my major changed to something I felt was more attainable with my new situation. I obtained my Associates of Arts Degree from Tarrant County College and went on to study History at the University of Texas at Arlington for a few semesters. Insert next curve ball, I switched universities and majors and went on to graduated from the University of Phoenix with a Bachelors Degree in English with a focus study in Psychology.

I previously worked in Pediatric Dentistry for 12 years before becoming a teacher, but always felt I was meant for more, which was part of my inspiration to continue my education, even when things got rough. I have taught English in the secondary level for several years now and can honestly say I love what I do. I have a passion for literature that follows me out of the classroom. Half Price Books is my second favorite place to be outside of spending time with my family. I believe that all people can learn to love reading if they find what speaks to them the most. The only way to find this out is to go out and read a little of everything, which I encourage all the time in my class.

I will strive to always push you to think outside the box and reach for success in all things you do. I will take your successes and failures personally, I will cry and cheer with you, and most of all I will demand the greatness that is in you to show through, even in the darkest hours.
